When is the Leviathan Axe and Kratos returning to Fortnite?

0

It’s been over three years since the God of War cosmetics, including Kratos and his iconic Leviathan Axe, have been available to buy in the Fortnite Item Shop. With a Greek Mythology season currently underway, it’s surely a matter of time until everyone’s favorite god-slaying dad returns, right?

This article covers everything we know about Kratos and the Leviathan Axe coming back in Fortnite Chapter Five Season Two, hopefully freeing up iFireMonkey’s inbox.

Will Kratos and the Leviathan Axe pickaxe be in the Fortnite Item shop in Chapter 5 Season 2?

There has been no official confirmation by Epic Games or Sony that Kratos or the Leviathan Axe will return to Fortnite. However, the God of War shop section was updated internally on April 23, moving from the “Fortnite Collab” category into “Spotlight.” This suggests that Epic could be planning to release Kratos and his cosmetics in the near future.

Epic remains tight-lipped about Kratos and the Leviathan Axe making their comeback despite the sea of replies on social media requesting the Ghost of Sparta to return. In fact, Kratos is so highly requested that it’s become a meme in the community, spawning hilarious videos and replies to both Epic Games and popular leakers.

Given the Greek mythology theme of the current season and the inclusion of boss fights with Olympian gods on the map, there’s never been a better time for Kratos to make his way back into the game. Whether Epic Games capitalizes on this golden opportunity, however, waits to be seen. As a great man once said, “Keep your expectations low, boy, and you’ll never be disappointed.”

Will there be a new God of War skin?

Unfortunately for those waiting for an alternate version of Kratos or more God of War characters in Fortnite, there have been no official announcements of any new God of War skins or cosmetics. However, potentially leaked insider information may suggest an Atreus skin is in the works.

In March 2024, an anonymous insider source who had allegedly worked with Epic Games “leaked” information on Chapter 5, Season 2 before its release. This rumor detailed various aspects that turned out to be entirely true, such as the Wings of Icaus, and suggested that Kratos would return with a new Atreus skin sometime during the Season.

It’s important to note that this leak also included information that has yet to come to fruition, such as a Persona collab. Things change often in development, and plans for new God of War cosmetics may have fallen through

If you don’t play Fortnite on PlayStation but still enjoy a good playthrough of God of War, don’t worry. Kratos and other God of War cosmetics can be purchased on any system when available in the Item Shop. Yes, even Xbox.

However, the Kratos skin does have an exclusive ‘Armored Kratos’ style that can only be earned by playing Fortnite on PS5. You can use this style on any platform once you’ve unlocked it, though.

While you’re waiting for that Item Shop refresh, get out there and practice your god-slaying skills by challenging the original God of War himself to earn an Aspect and Mythic weapon.
