What are Posthumous kills in MW3 and how to get them

As Modern Warfare 3 lives on, Sledgehammer games have added more creative ways to kill your enemy. From getting quickscoping kills to double kills, there’s no shortage of innovative ways to down a foe. For Season 3 of MW3, a challenge requires eliminating your enemy after you’ve died. Sounds confusing right? Well it’s called Posthumous kills, and we’ll show what they are and how you can get them in MW3.

MW3: What are Posthumous kills and how to get them

Do you remember during Halo 3 multiplayer matches when you’d kill an enemy Spartan after you’ve died and got the “Kill From the Grave” badge? In MW3 the rules are the same. Not to be confused with Close Call kills which are different. Posthumous kills require you to die to get them. These kills can be hard to do because you have to be the last person to attack the enemy. Being dead can make them a bit of a challenge. But if you’ve played games like Halo 3, it might just come naturally. So that same awesome feeling you got in that game might be found in MW3.

How to get kills after you’re dead

From experience, I do not recommend any guns. If you die, the weapon stops firing which nullifies the kill. But, there are rare chances of getting those kills that way. When you run and fire at an enemy, you both may go down. This could result in you getting a posthumous kill. Just remember, if you play this way, you’ll die a lot and not get the kill you need. As mentioned, the chances are rather rare.

To increase the rate of getting posthumous kills I highly suggest, grenades, Semtex, and Claymores. With grenades, as you’re getting shot, cook it (hold) and then throw the grenade as you die. However, if you don’t throw the grenade, you’ll drop it instead. This does have an impact as well. It’ll force your enemy to run but not far enough to miss the blast radius.

Both Semtex and Calymors can operate the same. For Semtex, you can stick to a wall, and some enemy players can hit while you’re dead. If you opt to use Claymors, consider putting it in highly populated areas but tuck it away where the lasers can’t be seen. I’ve had more success using the Claymors because I stay in the area where I’ve placed it, and if I die the Claymor can avenge me. What I like about this method is that it works best on all the maps since there are spots that can become a traffic jam with other players.

Collateral Kills are also difficult to do. However, our guide can easily help you adjust your playstyle to get these kills.
