Tales Of The Shire: A The Lord Of The Rings Game, a new cosy game set in Middle-earth, has shared its first trailer – check it out below.

Tales Of The Shire will allow players to experience life as a Hobbit, living in “Middle-earth’s most inviting region”.

Players can create and personalise their own Hobbit, before decorating their own Hobbit hole and taking part in a number of relaxing activities including cooking, fishing, foraging and gardening in the “quaint” village of Bywater. They will also be able to build relationships with the other inhabitants of Bywater, “unwind in the breathtaking pastures, visit the townsfolks’ local shops, or even enjoy second breakfast.”

“Help bring the community together and achieve official village status by throwing the greatest Bywater Festival the Shire has ever seen,” continued the press release.

“There are many tales of Middle-earth. Tales of courage and brave deeds in dark times. But that is not our story. For this is one of new beginnings,” explained the launch trailer for Tales Of The Shire: A The Lord Of The Rings Game. Check it out below:

Tales Of The Shire: A The Lord Of The Rings Game is due for release in the second half of 2024 via Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam.

The cosy game has been created by Take-Two Interactive’s Private Division and design agency Wētā Workshop, who also worked on the big screen adaptations of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

“We’re excited to provide players with the opportunity to fulfil their fantasy of living their own humble Hobbit life in the Shire,” said Wētā Workshop’s Kelly Tyson. “Tales Of The Shire brings a cosy new dimension to the way fans can experience Middle-earth, with plenty of wholesome, Hobbit-centric gameplay to win-over newcomers to the genre.”

“The team at Wētā Workshop is creating a brilliant representation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved works that gives players the agency to create their own Hobbit experience in Middle-earth,” said Head of Private Division, Michael Worosz.  “Players have been clamouring for a warm and inviting The Lord of the Rings game for years now, and it’s exactly what we’re delivering with Tales of the Shire.”

In other news, Capcom has confirmed it will be nerfing the random dragonsplague mechanic in a future update to Dragon’s Dogma 2.
