Infinity Ward has confirmed that looting in Warzone 2.0 will return to its predecessors’ style with the new content update next month.
Infinity Ward, the development team behind Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0, has confirmed that floating loot will return to the Battle Royale title with the Season 2 content update next month.
Earlier this week, the official Call of Duty Twitter account confirmed that the Season 2 content update for both Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 had been delayed. Originally intended to release on February 1st, the update will now incur a short delay of two weeks, with a new release date of February 15th now confirmed.
In the statement, Call of Duty states the reason for this delay is due to the studio making “several changes based on what [Activision] has heard from [its] player community.” Infinity Ward has since gone on to tease numerous changes set to be implemented with the launch of Season 2, with one of them being the return of floating loot.
“Battle Royale looting changes, and many more, are coming with Season 02,” Infinity Ward confirmed in a new tweet. They then went on to state that “player eliminations and all loot containers will now pop floating loot out onto the floor.”
When Warzone 2.0 was first released in November of 2022, it made some big changes to its predecessor. Changes that many members of the community believed weren’t necessary, now appear to be in the process of being reverted with the Season 2 content update. In the original Warzone, loot appeared to “float”, in a similar fashion to Fortnite.
This feature was altered with the release of Warzone 2.0 to make things more realistic. Currently, when killing enemies and ransacking locations in Al Mazrah, all of the loot simply appears on the ground and does not “float”, which can make it difficult to actually see what’s infront of you and available to loot.
Infinity Ward says that more details on the changes coming to Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare II will be shared in an in-depth blog post next week.
