Vera fans were sent into a frenzy after Riley Jones shared a picture of Brenda Blethyn reuniting with David Leon on set.

The Mark Edwards actor captioned the post on Instagram “On track for another great episode!”

Brenda Blethyn, who plays DCI Stanhope, looked serious as she shot a scene with her sidekick, Joe Ashworth (played by David Leon).

David, who left the police drama in 2014, will make his dramatic return in the upcoming series after replacing Kenny Doughty.

Earlier this year, Kenny announced his departure as Aiden Healy, but fans are thrilled to see David back.

Fans took to the comment section in droves to comment on Riley’s latest snap.

While some tried to guess the location of where they were filming, others commented on David’s return to the series.

sld_19_90 asked: “Where is that ?? & So looking forward to seeing it.” (sic)

While andyw_9719 guessed: “Ashington, wood horn???” (sic)

itsannamb48 added: “Been on those tracks a loooooong time.”

Riley also left fans stumped over one filming location after sharing another snap on social media.

The picture showed a police offer looking on as three pathologists got to work at the crime scene.

Emma B said: “I’m stumped on the location this time!”

creativealp went on to praise: “Riley, you take some stunning shots of where the Vera Set takes you.”

Speaking about making his return to Vera, David said in a new interview: “I’m thrilled to be returning to Vera.

“It’s fantastic to be back in the North East and reunited with Brenda and the crew for the new series.

“I’m looking forward to exploring the relationship between Joe and Vera as they make up for lost time.”

Vera is expected to return next year on ITV.
