Vanguard’s zombie mode is free to play this week

Somehow, it’s been over eight months since Call of Duty: Vanguard came out. Yet another reminder that we’re all lowly sacks of meat shuffling towards the end of our lifespan. What an ever-so-subtle reference that was, eh?

On Tuesday, Activision Blizzard announced that Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer and zombies will be free starting July 20 at 10 A.M. PDT // 1 P.M. EDT // 10:00 A.M. GMT until July 26, 2022. All playlists and maps across both modes will be playable during this free access period, including recent additions like USS Texas 1945, Blueprint Gun Game, and Shi No Numa. So even returning players have some new sights to see!

Since Call of Duty: Vanguard‘s launch, there have been numerous free-to-play promotions. Likely because it wasn’t a massive hit, at least compared to other entries in the franchise — or Elden Ring, for that matter. Given how much people love zombies, this could be a nice boon to the game’s overall player population. Or another dud, who knows.

At any rate, there probably won’t be many more Call of Duty: Vanguard free trials left with Modern Warfare 2‘s release looming. The latest installment from Infinity Ward will unquestionably be one of 2022’s biggest games.
