Microsoft has recently been implementing leadership changes for its Xbox division, as part of which vice president Sarah Bond was promoted to president, and Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty to president of game content and studios, and it has now been confirmed who will be stepping in the take up the latter’s vacant position.

Alan Hartman, the head of Forza Motorsport developer Turn 10 Studios, has been promoted to head of Xbox Game Studios. The news was confirmed by Hartman himself on his LinkedIn page. He wrote, “Thrilled to be representing such an elite set of game creators in my new role leading Xbox Game Studios.”

Hartman had been the head of Turn 10 since 2005, while in 2021, he was also appointed corporate vice president of the Forza and Fable franchises. It hasn’t yet been confirmed who will be stepping in as the new head of Turn 10 following Hartman’s promotion.

In his new capacity, Hartman will likely be overseeing all first party Microsoft studios outside of ZeniMax and Activision Blizzard. It was previously confirmed that the former will now report to the aforementioned Matt Booty going forward. It remains to be seen how Activision Blizzard will fit into the structure, but we do know that current CEO Bobby Kotick will be stepping down from his role after this year.
