Tides of the Foscari DLC

Colin, Clyde, Cuthbert: caterpillar cakes have taken many names over the years, but the latest is Sammy, the playable version of this timeless treat from Vampire Survivors’ new Tides of the Foscari DLC. Beyond his impeccable visual design, Sammy also boasts some very powerful abilities, making him a prime contender for use in your future runs. Read on to learn how to unlock Sammy in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari DLC.

How to add Sammy to your basket in Vampire Survivors

Step 1: Head to Lake Foscari

In order to unlock Sammy, you’ll first need to make your way to Lake Foscari, the new Special Stage added with the Tides of the Foscari DLC. For experienced players, this should be unlocked as soon as you start up the game, but if you’re only just starting out on your Vampire Survivors’ journey then you may need to clear the first few Stages before it appears as an option for you.

Step 2: Defeat 6000 Sammy enemies

Once you’ve arrived at the Lake, you’ll need to defeat a staggering 6000 Sammy enemies in order to unlock him as a playable character. These are rare enemies in most areas of the Stage, but thankfully there’s a spot where they appear in abundance. Head to the spot marked on the map above, north of the Metaglio Right for the Stage, and you’ll find a hidden forest area where Sammies spawn in endlessly.

Even if you’re not particularly well-leveled, you should be able to survive the cake-based onslaught you’ll face here, due to the healing pies that every Sammy drops upon defeat. With a couple of decent weapons, you can just stand in place here and wait for your kill counter to be 6000 higher than it was when you came in. Once you’ve eaten your fill, simply play the rest of your run as normal, and Sammy will be unlocked at the end.

Step 3: Purchase Sammy and enjoy!

Once you’ve unlocked Sammy, he’ll be available for purchase on the character select screen. He’s on the higher end of characters in the game in terms of purchase price, weighing in at an eye-watering 295,000 Gold for us, but bear in mind that character costs do scale up based on progress, and we’ve unlocked the majority of other characters in the game, so he may be cheaper for you.

However much he costs, this is one cake you’ll want on your Survivor squad. Not only does he begin with the powerful Vicious Hunger weapon, apt given his delicious design, but he also gains additional experience from Gold Coins and Money Bags, letting you scale up quickly during bouts of Gold Fever, and overcome the temporary Might reduction he suffers from in the early stages of a run.

Now that you know how to unlock Sammy in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari DLC, you have access to one of the best Gold-based characters in the game, and certainly one of the sweetest.
