The Witcher Season 4: Liam Hemsworth First Look As Geralt Revealed By Netflix

After photos of Liam Hemsworth’s transformation into Geralt of Rivera leaked last week, Netflix released the first footage of the younger Hemsworth brother taking up the great swords of the monster hunter.

“His look has been in development for over a year, so it’s thrilling to finally share an official sneak peek of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich told Entertainment Weekly. “Cast and crew alike have been struck by the passion, energy, and embodiment Liam has brought to the character from Day 1–scruffy beard, iconic scar, and all! We’re having so much fun filming season 4 and are excited to welcome fans along on this journey with us.”

The footage is a quick reel showing Hemsworth pulling his new Roach (we’re on, what, Roach VII?) in a misty woods with a profile look at his face at the end. Executive producer Tomek Baginski opened said a few months after Hemsworth’s casting they had “a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt.”

The announcement of the former Hunger Games star taking over the lead role of Geralt starting with Season 4 after Henry Cavill departed, left fans confused and not exactly the happiest. The former Superman portrayed the character since the fantasy-drama’s first season, but left due to him thinking at the time that he would be committed to more projects with DC–that never happened.

The Witcher Season 4 production started in April, with Netflix announcing that the series will end with Season 5. The final two seasons will adapt the events from The Witcher books Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.
