The One Show star lets slip big Masked Singer spoiler in awkward blunder | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

As The Masked Singer gears up for it’s second episode this Saturday, a huge spoiler from this series has seemingly been revealed. Judge Davina McCall appeared on The One Show on Thursday evening to speak about the current series, but host Lauren Laverne appeared to reveal the identity of the one of the stars.

Lauren, 45, said: “Of course, a former Doctor Who will be making an appearance on The Masked Singer, alongside some huge music stars including the legendary Dionne Warwick.”

Seemingly unfazed by the apparent spoiler leak, Davina, 56, exclaimed: Yes!” However, eagle-eyed fans noticed the comment and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts.

One person said: “@BBCTheOneShow did @laurenlaverne accidentally give away that a former #DoctorWho is a contestant on the #MaskedSingerUK this year?”

Another viewer wrote: “Did you just give away that one of the masked singers is a former Doctor Who? Spoilers!” A third confused fan added: “A former Doctor Who will be on #TheMaskedSinger?”

While a fourth replied: “I noticed that, big spoiler, and nobody seems to have picked up on it. Unless she meant as a guest on the panel each week?”

A fifth fan, who believes David Tennant is on the show, said: “I hope you’re ready for the next round of DT being on The Masked Singer after The One Show said a former Doctor Who was on the show.”

On the first episode, the judges unveiled the identity of Weather as none other than singing superstar and all-round icon Dionne Warwick.

The judges decided to save Maypole and Rat after being impressed by their performances, leading to Weather’s identity being revealed to the shocked judges.

As the character took off her mask, host Joel Dommett, as well as all four judges, were left speechless after singing icon Dionne Warwick revealed herself.

“It’s soul legend Dionne Warwick everybody,” Joel, 38, exclaimed as Davina and the rest of the judges looked up in shock.

Davina, Jonathan Ross and guest judge Charlie Simpson correctly guessed it was the legendary star, while Mo incorrectly thought Weather was fellow singer Bonnie Tyler.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
