The Chase fans fume as Bradley Walsh calls out ‘multi-millionaire’ contestant | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
On Monday night, ITV viewers watched as Bradley Walsh was left confused as to why one “multi-millionaire” player was on the show. Coming to the table, contestant Lesley revealed she’s been on 45 cruises in her life.
Stumped, The Chase’s Bradley asked: “What have you come on here for?! You’ve got the jet set lifestyle.” Lesley replied: “I wish I had.”
Elsewhere in her chat with Bradley, the player shared she’d travelled a fair bit since retirement with her husband. She explained she’s been to 93 countries so far, with 24 being last year.
Sadly, Lesley failed to make it through to the final chase as it was down to players Will and Marcus. Setting a target of 11 for Shaun ‘the Dark Destroyer’ Wallace to beat, Bradley asked the Chaser the last question in the round.
Bradley said: “What team did Brazil beat to win their first FIFA World Cup?”The chaser quickly replied: “Sweden, 5-2.”
In the end, he managed to catch up with the target set with 43 seconds left on the clock. However, the presenter was left less than impressed that Shaun had started to give extra information after the answer.
Once the timer ran down, Bradley scolded: “Don’t show off!” However, the Chaser protested his innocence, by replying: “I wasn’t showing off, as if I’d do that.”
The presenter continued: “You were, you were doing that. All you’ve got to do is give the answer and you’re coasting and showboating.”
Cutting him off, Shaun replied: “I would never do that, listen I’ve lost to an 11 before, you’ve got to be joking.”
Not having any of it, Bradley continued: “You are giving the answer and you are then, giving a load of information in the final chase, which doesn’t need to be done, so you are showboating.”
Turning to the two players, the 63-year-old apologised as he continued to scold Shaun for showing off in the last round of the game.
It wasn’t long before people watching took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Bradley’s comments to the Chaser.
@RikHolmes said: “I can’t stand Shaun, but I thought his final answer was superb. Nothing wrong with “showboating” when a team was so embarrassingly poor.”
@Johnny_JI81 added: “There’s nothing wrong with showboating [sic] Shaun was on fire today #shaunwallace #thechase.”
@Simo21537664 commented: “I think Shaun is funnier than Brad.”

Commenting on Lesley’s lavish lifestyle, one fan wrote: “Lesley is obviously a multi-millionaire to be able to afford all those holidays a year. Crikey, she’s been on 45 cruises.”
Another added: “Are you a millionaire? 24 countries in a year?”
Sadly, the two players were unable to beat Shaun and lost out on taking home an even share of their combined total.
