The best Steam Autumn sale deals to grab this Black Friday

Steam Autumn Sale deals are in the air, as Valve celebrates Black Friday with an almost overwhelming number of PC game discounts across the site. Anything’s fair game (ha), whether it’s an indie gem, recent hit, or an AAA classic that you’ve hoped might get discounted for months now. Cyberpunk 2077, Hitman, some of the best anime games, classic Yakuza, and more are all up for grabs, and best of all, pretty much everything we’ve listed in our roundup works on the Steam Deck and the newly-announced Steam Deck OLED.

Steam Autumn Sale deals are live now and run through Nov. 28, 2023, at 1 p.m. Eastern.

The Yakuza Collection is easily one of the best Black Friday sales period, assuming you like your RPGs mixed with crime drama and a generous helping of slice-of-life. The $35 bundle features every mainline Yakuza game, from Yakuza 0 to Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, including the Yakuza Remastered Trilogy. Like A Dragon, Like A Dragon Ishin, and Like A Dragon Gaiden aren’t included, though you can get the first two of those at pretty good prices as well.

If you have some of these games already, Steam scales the discount – e.g., if you only don’t own Kiwami and Yakuza 6, Steam lets you have them for $10.

IO Interactive bundled almost every piece of modern Hitman into the World of Assassination package. You get Hitman 1 and all its DLC; Hitman 2 and none of its DLC; and Hitman 3. The 7 Deadly Sins DLC isn’t included, but you do get Hitman 3’s free Ambrose Island location update and the expansive Freelancer Mode. Hitman 3’s DLC and 2’s two extra locations are in a different bundle, which is a bit weird, but there’s a lot of stealth game goodness to dig into with this package alone.

This bundle is going for $27.99.

What better way to get ready for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth than by jumping into Square Enix’s reimagined version of Midgard at a discount? Intergrade also includes the Episode Yuffie DLC that acts as a bridge between Remake and Rebirth, with some of the trilogy’s more mysterious teases – Genesis, for one thing, and a Zack Fair who’s very much not dead like he should be.

You can pick it up for $34.99.

Sonic Superstars may have its problems, but if you wanted to see for yourself without paying full price, now’s the time. Sonic’s latest 2D adventure is going for $41.99, just two months after Sega launched it on all platforms. Superstars falls flat with some of its new ideas, but the high-speed side-scrolling is better than ever. You can even team up with friends and play in multiplayer as Sonic, Amy, Tails, or Knuckles.

Cyberpunk 2077 is down to $29.99, and if you haven’t checked it out since launch, it’s practically a brand-new game. Cyberpunk’s 2.0 update smooths out the last of the major bugs and adds a range of improvements to combat and Night City itself, including more dynamic behavior from enemies. The 2.0 update also improves Cyberpunk 2077’s visuals even further, though despite the increased demand on your rig, it still runs smoothly on Steam Deck.

It also doesn’t come with Phantom Liberty, so keep that in mind.

One of the best grand strategy games around is going for nearly half off. You can grab Victoria 3 for $24.99 and dive into the tangled mess of the 19th century to establish some order – and maybe learn a thing or two along the way. Your goal in Victoria 3 is navigating the tensions between industrialism and agrarian lifestyles, peaceful coexistence and expansionism and leading your civilization to prosperity through trade, war, and smart planning – or watching everything fall apart around you. It depends on how good your planning is.

If you like a bit more whimsy with your grand strategy, Age of Wonders 4 puts you in charge of elves, magic frogs, and a number of other fantasy kingdoms all competing with each other for dominance over the continent. Age of Wonders 4 puts a unique spin on combat by letting you control your units in turn-based battles, and the bigger picture is crammed with random events, sudden betrayals, and unexpected alliances to the point where no run feels the same.

This one’s going for $34.99.

The first chapter in one of the most underrated RPG series is down to just $9.99. Trails in the Sky tells the story of one family caught in the middle of a sinister political conflict that threatens to engulf a small nation only just getting back on its feet after a neighboring superpower invaded. It’s the kind of game where philosophical clashes over pacifism and militarism sit alongside school plays and anime crushes, and it’s also just the start of a massive series spanning 11 games and counting.

What if old-school Resident Evil, but in space?  Is the guiding idea behind Signalis, and it works so well that we called it one of our favorite games of 2022. Signalis is a gem of a horror game that excels at teasing you with mysteries and making you feel like you’re out of your depth, with just enough resources to scrape by alive. It’s also down to $13.99.

One of the best roguelikes in the last decade is going for $14.99. Dead Cells puts you in the undead shoes of a woeful prisoner trying his best to get out of the cycle of death and rebirth, and usually failing – despite amassing a small arsenal of weapons and skills along the way. Every failure gives you new tools and unlocks new encounters, though, so you’re always making progress. Plus the soundtrack is excellent.

The Persona Collection lumps all three numbered Persona games on Steam together for less than the price of a new game. You get Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable for $58.67, which is more than enough RPG to keep you going for a few months. Despite sharing some similarities, each game is distinct enough in themes, narrative, and combat to where they all feel like unique experiences.

You can also get them separately on Steam if you don’t want all three.

Speaking of excellent RPG bundles, you can grab Mass Effect: Legendary Edition for $11.99. This edition brings together the whole Mass Effect trilogy and all DLC expansions for each game, with a host of impressive graphics enhancements. The saga of Commander Shepard and the Normandy Crew earns its reputation as one of the most important RPG experiences, even if it’s a bit rough around the edges. Hopefully, Mass Effect 5 doesn’t make us drive a Mako again.

Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom’s  survival horror masterpiece, is going for $39.59, the lowest it’s been since launch in April 2023. Leon Kennedy’s revamped nightmare in Spain is more than just a fancy glow-up, though it’s definitely that as well. Capcom smoothed out the rough spots, introduced new features, and even added a handful of new story beats as well. The Separate Ways DLC is also available, though you’ll have to buy it, well, separately for $9.99.

There’s a lot of monster-catchers that want to be like Pokemon games, but Cassette Beasts is a step above most of them thanks to one feature: It does its own thing. Cassette Beasts combines open-world adventuring with inventive monster battles using creatures that are essentially mix tapes. It’s an inventive twist on a familiar genre, and you can see for yourself for $14.99.

The formerly lost chapters in the Ace Attorney saga are going for more than 50 percent off, at $15.99, and they’re among the best games in the series. These drop you back in time, to 19th century Japan and England, as an ancestor of Phoenix Wright caught in the middle of a sinister conspiracy. GAA boasts some of the best localization in the business and has one of the most off-the-wall casts in the series, which is saying something for Phoenix Wright.

Street Fighter 6 is getting one of its biggest discounts since launch, with the price down to $39.59. It’s easily one of the best in the series and the best fighting game of 2023, thanks to its abundance of modes, slick polish, approachable controls, and smart balancing so fighting experts and total newbies can dive in and enjoy without much friction. Capcom’s rolling out updates and new fighters as well, so Street Fighter 6 will still be relevant for a long time to come.

Larian Studios’ previous major hit is also over half off at $17.99. The story of Rivellon and its hunted Sourcerers earned the studio acclaim for good reason – and not just because you can set pretty much everything on fire, although that helps. Each of the Origin characters has a wildly different take on the stories that unfold and how you can interact with them, and those stories – plus the role you play in shaping them – remain among the best in the genre.
