The PlayStation Store holiday sale deals have begun, with big discounts on some of the best PS5 games of 2023, old classics, and hidden gems you might’ve missed in a year crammed with releases. There’s a discount for everyone, whether you’ve been waiting for Jedi Survivor or Cyberpunk 2077 to go on sale or want to try out award winners such as Sea of Stars and Alan Wake 2. Red Dead 2 is on sale, as always, and Larian even threw in a little Baldur’s Gate 3 price cut as a treat – emphasis on “little.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally on sale! Okay, at $62.99, it’s only $7 off the list price of $69.99, but it’s still a sale. There’s a lot of game here, too, with even just one playthrough lasting upwards of 150 hours or more, depending on how much you want to do. The variations in party composition, how events unfold based on your choices, and even which class you pick means it’ll take a long old time for this one to get old.
Square Enix’s foray into gritty, dark fantasy is down to $41.99 from its usual $69.99, so if you missed out during Black Friday, now’s the time to jump in. Producer Naoki Yoshida might have sold FF 16 as heavily inspired by Game of Thrones, but there’s a lot more going on here than just a reskin of G.R.R. Martin’s fantasy series. The combat system strikes a balance between approachability and complex, fast-paced Devil May Cry style, and there’s even a bit of light RPG customization as you put Clive’s ability set in order.
Literally any time there’s a sale, you can expect to see Red Dead Redemption 2 going for $19.79. It’s a bargain tradition. It’s also a brilliant historical game with some of the best quest writing and open worlds around.
Alan Wake 2, winner of several awards at The Game Awards 2023, is down to $47.99 for the holidays. It’s a bigger, better, and all-together creepier sequel that sees Remedy at its best in every possible way. It also introduces a second protagonist who investigates mysterious phenomena in the real world while Alan is trapped in The Dark Place, and the two tales intertwine in ways that make the whole experience feel richer.
There’s also Alan Wake 2 DLC in the works.
Sea of Stars, winner of 2023’s best indie game award, is getting its first discount, down to $24.49. Sea of Stars weaves together the best ideas from the Golden Age of RPGs and adds some excellent modern conveniences and one of the best battle systems in the genre.
2022’s hit God of War sequel is going for $39.89. The second outing for modern Kratos is bigger and mostly better than 2019’s God of War, with a more complex story and deeper emotional payoff as the father-son duo fight to prevent the end of the world – and of their relationship. You also get the free Valhalla expansion, a roguelike mode that adds a surprising amount of character development and narrative closure.
The best fighting game of 2023 is on sale for $39.59. Street Fighter 6 has something for everyone, whether you’re a fighting newbie or a seasoned veteran. Detailed character customization, an exceptional roster, and plenty of modes to keep you in fighting form online and off. Capcom’s still supporting SF6 with more characters and tournaments as well.
CD Project Red’s cyberpunk game is unrecognizable in its latest form, and that’s a good thing. The 2.1 update – that’s the version you’re getting here – caps off years of fixes and additions with more stories, systems, and ways to enjoy the game. This version doesn’t come with the Phantom Liberty expansion, but with the revamped skill trees and other improvements, the base game alone is worth experiencing (at last). You can get it for $29.99.
Capcom took a chainsaw to Resident Evil 4 Remake’s price and cut half of it off. The survival horror game only launched in March 2023, but you can get it for its lowest price ever now, $29.99.
Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s hit open-world adaptation of the Dark Souls formula is going for $35.99, and it’s just as grimly enchanting as it was when it launched in 2022. The journey to become Elden Lord – or break the world while trying – takes you across a cruel fantasy world where godlike beings vie for control over the Elden Ring. The boss fights are spectacular, the characters memorable, and while it might be FromSoft’s first attempt at an open world, the locations and environment design are some of the best in the genre.
Speaking of FromSoft, there’s a new Soulslike in town, and it stars Pinocchio. Lies of P surprised most of us with how smartly designed its world and combat are, and while it wears its inspirations a little too openly at times, Lies of P has a strong identity of its own that lets it stand proudly beside the likes of Bloodborne. You can grab it for $47.99.
Ubisoft’s back-to-basics Assassin’s Creed game is down to $41.99 once more, just a few months after launching. The spinoff story follows Basim of Valhalla game in medieval Baghdad at the height of the Caliphate’s splendor, and it swaps the recent RPG approach for a stealth experience instead.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor takes Cal Kestis on a bigger, more complex, and more rewarding journey across the galaxy, as his doomed fight against the Galactic Empire continues. He’s older, sadder, and wiser now, and Respawn leans further into Cal’s relationships with his fellow rebels in a surprisingly thoughtful narrative that defies expectations and takes a deeper look at the Jedi Order’s past. You can see for yourself for $34.99.
This is a pretty big discount for the slick remaster of Naughty Dog’s survival horror classic. If you enjoyed HBO’s adaptation and want to experience the source or just need to revisit an old favorite, you can do it for $39.89.
Sega’s offering a bundle with Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal for slightly less than the price of one new game – $58.49. They might all follow a similar formula, but each shakes it up in unique ways – social activities in Persona 4, for example, or Persona 5‘s brilliant take on dungeons and exploration. If you’re chomping at the bit for Persona 3 Reload, this is a pretty good way to tide yourself over.
