Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, a new single player autoshooter experience set in the universe of the co-op FPS Deep Rock Galactic, has been announced for PC by developer Ghost Ship Games and its publishing branch, Ghost Ship Publishing. The game will launch in early access in 2023.

In the previous Deep Rock Galactic, players explored the mineral-rich caverns of the alien planet Hoxxes IV, facing hostile wildlife and dangerous environments. The game featured four playable dwarf classes, including Scout, Engineer, Gunner, and Driller, each with their own set of tools and loadouts for combat and navigation.

The upcoming release of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor will follow a similar format, with four playable characters, over 30 weapons, and 3–5 biomes available at early access launch.

The original Deep Rock Galactic also featured eight mission types that took place in procedurally generated dungeons, including mining, hunting, extraction, escort, industrial sabotage, and elimination, and the shape and design of the caves and biomes were affected by the mission type.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is expected to feature similar mission types, with at least 1–3 bosses and over 10 types of enemies available at launch. The full release of the game will reportedly include all the types of content that veterans of the series are accustomed to.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is expected to remain in Early Access for a maximum of 6–12 months, with the timeline subject to change based on player feedback via platforms such as Steam and Discord, as well as development progress.

Players can also expect a progression system similar to the first game, allowing them to purchase new weapons, equipment upgrades, and cosmetics for each dwarf using credits and crafting minerals earned during missions.

The original game introduced a free Battle Pass system in 2021, which may be included in the full release of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Ghost Ship Games has prior experience with early access and gathering feedback, as its previous game was developed using a similar model. To increase the efficiency of adding content, they have chosen the low-poly art style currently used in Survivor.

In addition, Ghost Ship Publishing has announced two new PC games – SpellRogue by Guidelight Games, a turn-based roguelike card battler, and Dark Swarm, a top-down co-op shooter featuring procedural generation and class-based progression from Bitfire Games.
