Warner Bros’ slate of superhero films and TV shows could be getting a huge upgrade soon thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn stepping up as DC Studios’ new CEO last year. Comic book fans are now concerned what the new direction could mean for The CW’s drama series Superman and Lois after the network’s popular Arrowverse came to an end, but main cast member Wolé Parks has assured them there are no plans to end the series just yet during his exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.

Parks confirmed he has no plans to hang up John Henry Irons’ Steel suit just yet.

Originally introduced as Captain Luthor in the first season of Superman and Lois, the powerful armoured soldier has become one of the Kryptonian’s most trusted allies in the fight against evil.

In season three, which premiered this week on The CW, he’ll face off against new villain Bruno Mannheim (played by Chad L Coleman) while the Man of Steel finally takes on Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz).

However, it won’t be long before a new big screen version of Superman takes over from Henry Cavill’s portrayal in Gunn’s upcoming Superman: Legacy.

While Parks and the cast are unaware whether they’ll be getting a fourth season, Gunn has confirmed he isn’t planning on cancelling the series just yet.

“There has been so much change,” Parks continued. “And not only at Warner Bros.

“But on The CW where we air in the US, and also at DC Comics. So as so many things have been changing, our mission is to just do our show, do a good show and hope people connect with it.

“And [if we do that] we’ll get to come back. But, I don’t know, there have been no conversations as far as I’m aware.”

Thankfully, Gunn has also extended an olive branch to the series as he recently confirmed there are no plans to take it off air just yet.

At DC’s slate unveiling, he told press: “It’s a show everybody likes, so it’s going to keep going for a little bit.”

However, as season three has only just started, it’s still not confirmed if this means seasons four and five will be in the works soon.

“I’d rather him say, ‘Oh we’ll give them a season or two more’ than being like, ‘No, they’re done’,” Parks added. “So that’s a positive.”
