Super Mario Bros. Wonder Receives its First Post-Launch Patch

Nintendo’s flagship releases tend to have a well-earned reputation of releasing in a more polished state than most AAA titles do in today’s day and age, which means we don’t see patches for them with anywhere close to the average frequency. More than a month on from its launch, the first patch for Super Mario Bros. Wonder is now available, and it’s quite a minor one.

The most notable change (so to speak) has been made to Heart Points, or the score you gather from other players through multiplayer. Following the patch’s release, if you restart or exit a course before finishing it, your Heart Points will now revert to what they were before you started the course. Meanwhile, the patch notes say Nintendo has also made “additions and adjustments” to staff names in the game’s credits, along with other issues being addressed to “improve the gameplay experience.”

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is available on the Nintendo Switch. It sold 4.3 million units in its first week, becoming the fastest-selling Super Mario title ever. Read our review of the game through here.
