Strictly Come Dancing professional Vito Coppola became visibly emotional after it was confirmed that he and Ellie Leach have made it to next week’s grand finale. After they were named as the first contestants to have made it through, the couple had an emotional chat with host Claudia Winkleman.

Claudia said: “What a reaction! I love the fact that you never think it’s a given.”

Vito, 31, was clearly overcome with emotion as Ellie, 22, replied: “Not at all, the standard in this competition has been so, so high; everyone has been amazing.

“To think that we are going to be in the final just doesn’t even feel real. I can’t even explain how grateful we both are to everyone who has voted for us, it’s just amazing.”

Claudia couldn’t help but notice Vito becoming restless, pointing out: “Look at you! Your legs are shaking, you’re tearful.”

The professional dancer then gushed that he was “over the moon” before joyfully exclaiming “I’m so happy” and pulling Ellie into his arms for a tight hug.

Addressing Vito, the Coronation Street actress told her partner: “Thank you so much for being the best partner, the best friend, always making me laugh and picking me up when I feel down, always pushing me to put all that hard work in.

“Without you, I couldn’t have done this at all. You have changed my life.”

The sweet moment melted the hearts of viewers and many took to X, formerly known as X, to share their thoughts.

Louise said: “Awwww Vito. We are over, up the moon too for you and Ellie getting to the final. Love you two.”

Emily wrote: “Ellie and Vito’s reaction was everything, they are so deserving of a place in that final.”

Kathleen added: “Vito and Ellie making me well up,” and another user gushed: “Ellie and Vito making me cryyy, the cutest!”

Next week, Ellie will compete against Bobby Brazier and Layton Williams in the final. The acts will each perform three routines, usually one chosen by the judges, each couple’s favourite dance and finally a showdance.

Strictly Come Dancing: The Final airs Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
