SNES racing collection coming to Switch, with Top Gear classics and a new game

We’re about to gain access to even more retro classics on Switch (and several other platforms) come January. The Top Racer Collection features remastered SNES racing games to play, and it’s set to launch on January 11, 2024 on Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One/Series S|X, and Steam.

The Top Racer Collection will feature the popular ‘90s racing trilogy Top Gear, Top Gear 2, and Top Gear 3000. First hitting the shelves in 1992, the SNES high-speed racing series gained popularity among fans across the globe. Top Gear’s original Japanese title, Top Racer (a moniker that is now being ported over to the entire collection), is being adapted for the collection’s upcoming release. Although the series was competing with other popular racers such as Mario Kart and F-Zero, Top Gear still left an impact on the gaming industry.

With Top Gear being one of the most memorable racing trilogies in gaming history, fans will get a chance to play a wider range of classic racing games. Beyond that, they’ll also be able to enjoy the full Top Gear experience with newly implemented gameplay modes and filters. Both online and offline multiplayer modes will be available for players to choose from. And of course, the great soundtrack that accompanies the game will be featured as well.

Top Gear meets Horizon Chase

Alongside the Top Gear trilogy, an all-new collaboration game is coming to consoles in early 2024. Top Racer Crossroads is a special crossover with Horizon Chase. The crossover is set to feature aspects of both games within the collection. This is a treat for Switch fans specifically: Nintendo already has a wide range of classic titles for fans to enjoy, but adding more SNES games to the platform any way possible is a great thing.
