The Season of Light has begun, bringing into play the Pokémon Cosmog with a season Special Research story, around which future phases of the season will revolve. However, these are currently a long way off. Find out what’s coming up in Pokémon GO in the week from Sept. 5 – 11, 2022, in our weekly preview here.

Psychic Spectacular: Start

Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, starting at 10 a.m. local time

Psychic Spectacular returns for its second edition in 2022. The highlight of the event is the debut of Mega Alakazam, along with numerous other Psychic-type spawns, Field Research and Limited Research tasks, and themed raid bosses. You can find a Psychic Spectacular event overview on Pokémon Go‘s official website.

Spotlight Hour: Munna

Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time

The first Spotlight Hour in September 2022 has the sleepy Munna in tow, which can even be found in the rare Shiny version on this occasion. For 50 Candy, the pink meatball will evolve into Musharna, a no less creepy creature that feeds on people’s dreams. As a bonus, the event doubles any Stardust rewards for catching Pokémon.

Raid Hour: Deoxys (All Forms)

Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time

Since Niantic has corrected the error that caused only the Normal form of Deoxys to show up in the promised Shiny variant, the Raid Hour should be an attractive target for many trainers. All four forms of the alien Pokémon await battle in the hour-long event at all available gyms. Pack your best counters and move from battleground to battleground to maximize your chance of catching that rare Shiny.

GO Battle League: Great League and Psychic Cup

Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, starting at 1 p.m. PDT

Season 12 of the GO Battle League has brought a balance patch and a fresh schedule with numerous formats. The Great League runs for another week, but the Psychic Cup replaces the Mini Jungle Cup Remix in the coming week. The name doesn’t exactly keep it a secret: only Psychic Pokémon are eligible for this tournament, and the upper limit for competition points (CP) is 1,500 CP. Mew is the only pocket monster excluded by name. Very mean, but the mysterious creature with its numerous attacks is just too flexible for such a limited set of rules.

Event: Clefairy Party

Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time

Not much is known about the Clefairy Party event on Saturday evening. At least you don’t have to be Nostradamus to predict that the titular Pokémon from the Kanto region will likely be present in large numbers.

Raid Day: Deoxys (All Forms)

Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time

If you just can’t seem to land a Shiny version of Deoxys during Raid Hour or otherwise, this Raid Day should help you out. During this event, the Shiny probability increases greatly and, just like during a Raid Hour, the Legendary Pokémon constantly shows up at gyms. Spinning photo discs at such battlegrounds also gives you up to five free Raid Passes – so the stage is set for happy Shiny hunting.
