Sega of America is seemingly laying off around 13 percent of its staff. In total, this amounts to around 61 employees at Sega of America that will be laid off. Spotted by ResetEra user stopmrdomino, a layoff alert was posted on the X (formerly Twitter) page of WhatLayoff, citing a California WARN notice.

The WARN notice—Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification—is part of a California law that requires companies to give ample notice—60 days—before having mass layoffs. According to VideoGamesChronicle, the California Employment Development Department has confirmed the WARN notice, stating that Sega of America has submitted plans for two distinct layoffs of 49 and 12 staff members. These layoffs are set to be made effective on March 8.

Sega itself hasn’t made any official announcements about the layoffs, however. For the sake of context, Sega of America employs around 440 people as members of its staff.

Earlier in January, Sega had appointed Shuji Utsumi as the new CEO, COO, and president of Sega of America and Sega Europe.
