Sabotage Studio’s Sea of Stars, a beloved throwback to classic RPGs, is releasing for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on August 29th. It was already confirmed for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC, with a demo currently available on the Nintendo eShop.
Set in the same universe as The Messenger, the story focuses on Valere and Zale, who use Eclipse Magic to battle against The Fleshmancer and their creations. Other party members with unique motives, abilities and backstories also join for six playable characters. The combat is turn-based and focuses on strategy, counters and timing attacks. Perhaps best of all, there’s no grinding required, with progression balanced around story completion.
As players explore the world, they’ll climb and jump through different areas, allowing them to take in the gorgeous environmental design and pixel art. If that weren’t enough, Yasunori Mitsuda of Xenoblade Chronicles fame is composing the soundtrack. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay in the coming months.
