Rumour: Final Fantasy 16 May Come to Xbox Soon

The currently Playstation exclusive Final Fantasy 16 might be making its way to the Xbox Series platform according to a gaming insider. On a recent Infinite Podcast, Shpeshal Nick shared that they believe the game could be heading to Xbox. As FF16’s PS5 exclusivity will run out June 2024, the game could be coming as soon as Q3 2024.

Nick in the past has revealed industry insider info particularly the news of Visions of Mana which was unveiled at the Developer_Direct this month. Of course until Square Enix confirms any of this, there is solid evidence that Final Fantasy 16 will be coming to Xbox.

When the PS5 Exclusivity Ends

When FF16 was first announced, there was small print in the trailer saying that the game would be exclusive on PS5 for at least 6 months however this doesn’t clarify which platforms would be getting a port. However, there were rumours that it could be heading to both Xbox Series and PC after the time was up. For now we will have to wait and see if Square Enix will be bringing this entry to more platforms as they have done in the past for titles such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Previously, producer Naoki Yoshida explained that fans shouldn’t worry about the PC version coming in half a year of launch and joked that fans should just buy a PS5 if they wanted to play the game.  But never say never, as with titles such as the Final Fantasy 7 remake, the title did end up coming to PC roughly 6 months after PS5.

Making Waves

In case you missed it, Final Fantasy 16 released last year, selling a massive 3 million copies in just a week of its launch. The game shook up the long-running franchise’s main mechanics having the main character channel the power of Eikons as a Dominant. The title has also received a further DLC called Echoes of the Fallen which added a new narrative arc, new battles, weapons and an increased level cap. A special weapon bonus was the iconic Cloud Buster Sword from FF7. The game is set to receive another DLC called The Rising Tide in Spring 2024 which includes a final epic showdown between Clive and the mythic Eikon, Leviathan. Also a new area called The Rising Tide.
