Baldur’s Gate 3 could be getting a new game mode according to a currently unobtainable achievement.
Rumour: Baldur’s Gate 3 New Game Mode Hinted
Baldur’s Gate 3 could be getting a whole new punishing way to play according to a recently added new unobtainable achievement. Adventurers should note that this hasn’t been officially announced by Larian as of yet, so take this with a pinch of salt until confirmed.
The unearthed achievement hints at a new Honour mode which could be a whole lot more challenging than the current hardest level of difficulty. The achievement is named “Foehammer” says it will require players to complete the game in “Honour mode”. Currently, BG3 has three difficulty levels which are Explorer, Balance and Tactician which leads us to believe another difficult mode could up the ante.
The achievement appeared on the Baldur’s Gate 3 achievement list on GOG, which was shared on reddit by netizen Scornz. While Larian Studios hasn’t officially announced this new mode, previously an Honour Mode appeared in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
For Honour
This mode is absolutely brutal, where failure is not an option. It also limits a single save, meaning if your whole party dies, the save game will also get erased so no save scumming. Permadeath is a rough way to go and not for the faint of heart. However, a new challenge would certainly add an even more gripping way to play and that bit harder to complete than Tactician mode.
This could spell all kinds of trouble, especially with leaving things in the hands of RNG. Did you enjoy honour mode in Divinity Original Sins 2? Would you welcome permadeath into BG3?
