Watch Ashley and Leon work together to escape from the mutated cult.
Game Informer recently shared a 12-minute gameplay walkthrough from Resident Evil 4 Remake, showcasing a small part of Chapter 5, during which Leon and Ashley work with each other to escape the cults and mutated zombies. While most of the video focuses on Ashley and Leon, the final minutes of the footage (after the nine-minute mark) reveal a third character that some may not be expecting, so those wanting to keep the story a surprise may not want to watch beyond that point.
Slated for launch later next month, Resident Evil 4 Remake is aiming to stay faithful to the original and be the exact experience the veteran fans of the series are wishing for. However, Capcom is also trying to make it a modern and newcomer-friendly title, so that it can welcome new members to the franchise. The new footage includes scenes intended to appeal to both aspects.
In the first minutes of the trailer, we see Ashley and Leon cooperate to unlock a ladder, but as the two make it to the surface and encounter infected villagers, Leon takes the responsibility to save Ashley’s life, as the president’s daughter just can’t stay away from the trouble.
While Leon is dealing with cult members and mutated zombies, he also needs to keep an eye out for Ashley as villagers attempt to pick her up and take her with them, indicating that you will encounter situations where you need to leave the fight for a moment and take down the cult.
The footage shows the progress Resident Evil 4 Remake has made in terms of both gameplay and most of the mechanics you are going to use in the game, from inventory management to buying items from vendors. Moreover, you can check out multiple types of weapons as well as Leon’s ability to use melee attacks and some violent finishers.
In the case of enemies, we don’t get to see any big bosses in this footage, but you can meet a new type of parasite that sticks to the head of villagers, attacking with octopus-like arms. In a certain section of the video, we also get to witness a part of the game’s map, which showcases the location of a few different places players can visit.
