Release date, gameplay and more

Epic Games and the LEGO Group have been in partnership since 2022, and it seems they’ve been hard at work to combine their two juggernauts into a single Fortnite x LEGO game mode. Let’s check out all the tasty leaks that have spread over the development.

Fortnite x Lego release date

There have been plenty of signs in Fortnite’s game files that have led reputable data miners and leakers in the community like ShiinaBR to deduce that Fortnite x Lego (or Lego Fortnite if you’d like) will be released on December 7. Honestly, this is a great time to release such a weird new mode, as it’s right in the first week of the new season. In the aftermath of a boatload of nostalgic experiences in Fortnite OG, it’s nice to hop over to something brand new.

In the new mode, players will be able to explore a procedurally generated world filled with caves, NPCs, and tons of new building materials for your creative pleasure. You will get to play as an actual LEGO minifigure, just like in the LEGO games. It does sound quite similar to Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all time mind you, but I’ll judge it on its uniqueness once I’ve played it. The LEGO mode brings with it the following tools:

  • Building Tool
  • Workbench
  • LEGO Stud Gun

The new mode will heavily feature crafting items and buildings as one of its main components as that aligns with both LEGO and Fortnite’s core aspect of building. The building tool is probably just to know when you are or aren’t in building mode and the workbench is where I presume you can craft new items from existing resources, much like the crafting table in Minecraft.

LEGO Fortnite Items

There are leaks of various RPG-like items in the upcoming mode, listed below:

  • Beds
  • Fences
  • Ziplines
  • Ore
  • Catapults
  • Potions
  • HP and Energy

The open world itself will feature various types of caves including Rift, Ruins, and Lava. You can buy items from vendors, travel to and sleep at various camps around the world, and even come across some non-friendly NPCs. All of this seems less Fortnite and more of a PG Witcher to me, but it all sounds extremely interesting nonetheless.

You can get resources for your building escapades by mining props and ore across the map. There’s the normal HP bar but with it comes a newly added Energy bar that comes into play. I would predict Energy will limit how much you can mine at a time, like in Stardew Valley. It’s refreshing to see Fortnite continue to work on first-party experiences like this instead of pushing only for community-made creative islands, but we’ll see if they hit the mark on December 7.
