Question of Sport sparks fury as BBC fans slam ‘absolute rubbish’ Quiz show | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

The latest episode of BBC’s Question of Sport didn’t go down well with viewers as many slammed the once popular quiz show.

On Friday night, presenter Paddy McGuiness and captains Sam Queke and Ugo Monye welcomed guests Tom Aspinall, Joe Joyce, Troy Deeney and Hannah Miley onto the show.

However, it wasn’t long before fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the programme.

@BlokeVilla14595 commented: “Just watched 5 mins of ‘a Question of Sport’, Absolute rubbish.”

@jamiestephen43 said: “What an abomination Question of Sport has become. Can’t believe this is still on TV, it’s horrific!”

@ghostspike tweeted: “After giving it time to improve I have just watched ‘A Question of Sport’ on TV. It’s worse. A good programme ruined.”

Calling out a blunder, user @rosspb fumed: “Oi @QuestionofSport @PaddyMcGuinness Helmut Marko isn’t an F1 driver you wallys!!!! Really knowledgeable sports show”

@ownoakes asked: “Bloody hell. Question of Sport is still a thing?”

@SomersetSimmo reeled: “Question of Sport has declined that much that Troy Deeney is this week’s highest profile guest – time for the axe!”

Since the BBC quiz show changed its format back in 2020, it’s faced a wave of criticism as long-serving presenter Sue Barker was replaced after 24 years at the helm.

Former team captions Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell were also axed as Paddy, Sam and Ugo were introduced as the new cast.

Although a BBC spokeswoman had praised Sue during her departure and thanked her for her enormous contribution to the show, the 67-year-old wasn’t pleased with her exit.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast, she said: “It is such a shame because I have to say, that the BBC had told us we were going.

“They wanted to refresh the programme and that is absolutely fine. Everyone has the right to do that. We don’t own the programme.

“I had had 24 amazing years working with the most incredible people. So we knew it was going to happen and it was just the way in which it happened and the way it was handled, and the way the BBC sort of wanted me to say that I was walking away from it.

“And yet, I would never walk away from a job I love. I don’t mind being replaced. Absolutely fine. That happens. But it was just the way it was handled.”
