Starz critically acclaimed crime-drama Power was a massive hit when the show premiered back in 2016, as viewers followed the life of James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), a drug kingpin determined to legitimise his business. But Ghost didn’t make it out of the drug business alive and, despite taking a bullet to the chest, fans still aren’t convinced it’s the last they will see of Ghost.

Since Ghost’s death back in the season finale of Power, fans still aren’t convinced that it is the last they will see of Omari Hardwick in the power universe.

After falling to his death at the hands of his on-screen son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), hopeful fans have been coming up with ways to see the possible return of Ghost.

However, according to Hardiwck, Ghost is well and truly gone.

Speaking on the Pivot Podcast, Harwick explained: “You know, when people ask it, they go, ‘Yo there was no coffin. Yo, you didn’t actually take your last breath on the ground.”

The actor went on to say “Or at least, the ‘camera didn’t necessarily show that. It showed you trying to make sure that Tommy didn’t shoot your son’.

“I won’t ever say it because, Fred, I know you don’t want me to say it,” he explained.

Power fans are still convinced Ghost will somehow make a return, despite many of Hardwick’s co-stars insisting Ghost is gone.

Larenz Tate who stars as Councilman Tate in the Power universe recently told Express.co.uk that “anything could happen” when it comes to Ghost making a return to the dama.

Addressing the rumours surrounding his co-star’s character, Tate said: “I believe he’s gone. This is the power universe? Who knows? I mean, anything could happen.

“He could return in some capacity. I think anything is possible. But my hunch is that, you know, he’s, he’s gone.”

Before adding: “That’s my hunch. You never know. I would be surprised! They don’t tell us everything. So you know, they probably feel some scenes with him elsewhere. But no, I think he’s gone.”

When it comes to theories surrounding Ghost’s return, one fans have come up with is that Ghost’s death is a distraction for him to finally get out of the game for good.

Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at Starz, attempted to shut down the speculation surrounding Ghost when she told Deadline: “I don’t think you’re alone in that hope. But…Ghost died.”

However, another one of Hardwick’s co-stars, Shane Johnson, who plays Cooper Saxe in Power and Power Book II: Ghost, fueled the rumours.

He recently told Express.co.uk: “The one thing I do think could happen is, I know Omari has said he’s interested in telling a different story about James.

“So, that would have to probably be a show that we didn’t see, but was happening simultaneously to Power.”

Before adding: “But we see them outside of this world. So, it’s like, what’s the darker other stuff that’s happening outside what we’ve seen on camera already?

“I don’t even know if they’ve ever done a show like this that I’m talking about. But I think that would be interesting.”

There is a possibility a younger Ghost could be introduced in Power’s first prequel series, Raising Kanan.

This series follows the rise of Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis), originally portrayed by the show’s producer 50 Cent, which wrapped up production of its second season in October last year.

Power Book II: Ghost is currently streaming on Starz and Lionsgate+
