Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Best Eeveelutions, Ranked

0

Just like any Pokemon game that is released into the ever-expanding franchise, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet have Eevee and its evolutions in the new region’s Pokedex. All of Eevee’s evolutions are obtainable in Scarlet & Violet, and players who played just after the game’s release were able to obtain a special tera-typed Eevee for a short while, which were great for counter-plays.

As always, there is a lot of arguing and heavy debate on which Eeveelution is considered the best of the rest, though usually it always comes down to opinion and favoritism. Based on stats and type-advantages though, some Eeveelutions are definitely better.

8/8 Glaceon – Ice Type

Glaceon was a nice addition to the Eevee evolution line in terms of inclusiveness and variety, but in terms of its elemental type, it’s certainly lackluster. Glaceon does have decent stats, as all the Eeveelutions have the same sum of base stats, but it’s really its Ice-typing that brings it to the bottom of this list.

Since Glaceon is an Ice-type Pokemon, it can hit hard against other types like Dragon Pokemon, but it’s weak to so many other types like Fighting and Fire. If a player is looking for a glass cannon, Glaceon could be a great choice.

7/8 Leafeon – Grass Type

Leafeon was an Eeveelution that was introduced into the franchise along with Glaceon, but it falls near the bottom of this list as well. Leafeon shares the same total base stats as its other counter-parts, but its Grass-typing makes it less viable than some others.

Arguably, Leafeon is a great Pokemon when it comes to status or strategic moves, rather than full-on attacking, but players just need to watch out for so many other types as Leafeon is weak to Fire, Poison, Flying, Ice, and Bug. Simply put, Leafeon can be a great supportive Pokemon with the right move set.

6/8 Espeon – Psychic Type

The Psychic-type Eeveelution Espeon was an instant fan-favorite when introduced into the franchise in Gen II. This Pokemon has a wonderful sense for special-attacking, as well as being very viable against special-offensive Pokemon.

Espeon’s move pool is great, as it has access to many different attacks and moves that can prove incredibly useful at times. On the other hand, Espeon’s Psychic typing isn’t too special, as it’s resistant to two other types, and normally affected by the rest. But, notably, Psychic-type moves are very effective in use with Espeon.

5/8 Umbreon – Dark Type

Umbreon is a wonderful Dark-type Pokemon that evolves from Eevee after the player has bonded with it and raised its friendship, and then leveled it up at nighttime. Umbreon has a cool design and is a great Eeveelution for trainers to utilize as more of a tank or pivot Pokemon.

That’s because Umbreon’s best stats are its defensive stats, as well as Health. Because of its simple typing and good defenses, Umbreon is a great choice for any competitive team that needs a counter Pokemon for other typings, as its Dark-typing leaves type effectiveness fairly simple.

4/8 Flareon – Fire Type

Flareon is one of the original Eeveelutions that players were able to obtain, and it is simply one of the best. That’s because the Fire type is one of the best types of Pokemon out there, and Flareon is a pure Fire-type Pokemon.

Its typing gives it some great advantages, and with Terastallizing, Flareon can become a fiend on the battlefield. Flareon is great in the physical-offensive sense and has pretty good special-defense, making the Pokemon fend well for itself against special-defensive attackers, as they typically have lower defensive stats.

3/8 Jolteon – Electric Type

Jolteon is yet another one of the original Eeveelutions from back in Gen I. Jolteon is easily one of the best and most reliable Eeveelutions that players can utilize in their Pokemon Scarlet & Violet journeys.

For one, being a pure Electric-type Pokemon makes it incredible already, as it has great advantages and avoidable weaknesses. Jolteon is also the fastest Eeveelution with a base speed stat of 130! The Electric type also has a good base Special Attack stat of 110, making it quick with its powerful moves.

2/8 Vaporeon – Water Type

Vaporeon is among one of the most popular Eeveelutions in the Pokemon community for many reasons, both fortunate and unfortunate. This Eeveelution is a pure Water-type Pokemon, which is found to be one of the best types in Pokemon games.

Vaporeon’s stand-out stats are its incredible base Health of 130 and its Special Attack matching Jolteon’s at a base of 110. Vaporeon also has decent Special Defense, so in that case, Vaporeon is a good choice for players looking for a special-attacker who can take a few hits of damage — especially since Vaporeon has a low Speed stat.

1/8 Sylveon – Fairy Type

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Sylveon

Sylveon is the greatest Eeveelution that has been released as of Scarlet & Violet. Not only is its design incredibly unique, but Sylveon’s Fairy typing and stats give it some amazing viability in terms of competitive Pokemon battling. In fact, Fairy types are super-effective against some amazing hitters: Dragon, Dark, and Fighting-type Pokemon.

This Pokemon is also only weak to Poison and Steel, which are some fairly uncommon moves. Sylveon has a massive Special Defense stat, good Health, and a great Special Attack stat. This makes Sylveon a shoe-in for the number-one position as best Eeveelution.
