Pitbull responds to ‘Bridgerton’ using his song in NSFW carriage scene

Warning: spoilers ahead for Bridgerton Season Three.

Pitbull has said the use of one of his songs in a steamy sex scene in Bridgerton proves that his track has “remained timeless”.

The first half of the third season of the hit period drama landed on Netflix last week (May 16), with the final four episodes set to land on June 13.

At the end of the fourth episode, an orchestral version of Pitbull’s 2011 song ‘Give Me Everything’ is used to soundtrack a climatic and romantic scene in the back of a carriage between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

The version of the track soon went viral on social media. Check it out below:

And now, Pitbull himself has responded to the song’s success. “This again shows the world how music is the international language that transcends over boundaries more so how a hit song can remain timeless,” he wrote on Instagram, alongside a clip of the scene.

The 43-year-old tagged in the track’s original collaborators Ne-Yo and Afrojack and thanked Netflix and Bridgerton “for the opportunity”.

“I think everyone was a little bit shocked that they were so in love with this Pitbull song cover for this sequence, of all things,” music director Justin Kamps recently said in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum about the inclusion of the song.

“But the song is amazing, and it has this great build to it, and that’s what the scene really needed. It needed this anticipation and then an explosion into the main chorus of the song as we see what’s happening on screen.”

In a three star review of the new season, NME said: “Based on a series of blockbuster novels by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton may be more playful and progressive than most shows of this ilk, but it still relies on tired tropes like the need to beget a male son and heir. Thankfully, even at its cheesiest, it’s a treat to look at. Queen Charlotte’s brilliantly ridiculous wigs are set off by Rosheuvel’s scene-stealing facial expressions: her bored and haughty look is particularly meme-able.

“If you don’t have much of a sweet tooth, this still won’t be the show for you. But if you’re craving an early-summer pick-me-up, you’ll devour these warm and watchable episodes in one scrummy sitting.”
