Persona 5 Royal is full of many people to meet and social links to spend time with. Social Links require a total of ten hangouts, with multiple bonus perks being unlocked as you complete them. Social Links are essential for both furthering the story of these individual characters while also giving you valuable bonuses to use when exploring the Metaverse.
Akechi’s confidant was in the base version of Persona 5, but in Royal, it is given a complete overhaul. His confidant is no longer tied to narrative events, and you’ll need to take time to hang out with him in order to progress the ranks. Due to the importance of Akechi’s character through the main story, there is a deadline you need to complete the confidant by, and very specific answers to choose to unlock bonus content in the final semester.
All Social Link Ranks
Like all other confidants in this game, there is a total of ten ranks, with specific answers giving more points than others. Akechi represents the Justice arcana, so bringing a Justice persona will provide you with bonus points for each correct answer. Persona 5 Royal also comes with an additional phone call at the end of each rank to give you extra points if you answer correctly. Rank 1 will automatically begin on 6/10 during the school field trip to the Television Studio. Akechi is found outside of Sniper Penguin in Kichijoji on all evenings except Sunday.

Ranks 9 and 10 will automatically progress with story events as long as rank 8 is achieved before 11/17. During these ranks, you’ll get the chance to tell Akechi, “I want to keep our promise” this won’t affect the confidant rank but will unlock an additional cutscene at the end of the game.
