Outlander boss teases ‘devastating’ twist for Brianna and Roger: ‘It’s horrifying’ | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Outlander fans are eagerly awaiting today’s episode to see if their favourite characters survive to the second part of the season.

Things look especially grim for Roger (played by Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) believing that their son Jemmy has been taken back to the 1700s by Rob (Chris Fulton).

According to series executive producer Maril Davis “all bets are off” in the season seven, part one finale.

“I mean, I loved it,” she said of the episode. “Obviously with Brianna, Roger and Buck, leaving their story in a really devastating moment.

“There’s nothing worse than thinking, I’m sure, that your kid is somewhere else in a different time period – it’s really horrifying,” she told Radio Times.

“I think it’s just a great way to wrap up the mid-season finale and leave people wondering what will happen.

“And it’s true, all bets are off in some ways. We’re heading into our last season and anything can happen.”

Fans were devastated for the couple in the last episode as they discovered Jemmy was missing and Roger and his distant cousin and ancestor Buck (Diarmaid Murtagh) rushed to Craig na Dun to try and find him but came back with just Jemmy’s scarf.

Their worst fear is that Rob has used Jemmy to make a blood sacrifice to travel through the stones having read it in Roger’s notes, which he stole.

Fans already know that Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek) had previously believed that a blood sacrifice or gemstones were necessary for successful passage through the stones.

She had murdered her husband in order to time travel and Roger had documented this.

However, the trailer shows Roger preparing to travel back in time to find the child as they think he has been taken back, meaning that Brianna and their daughter Mandy will stay behind at Lallybroch.

In the books, penned by Diana Gabaldon, it transpires that, Jemmy is very much alive in the 20th century as Rob hopes to find out where the hidden Spanish gold is and believes that the youngster is aware of the location.

However, the series may deviate from the novels so fans will have to wait and see.

The Outlander season 7 part 1 finale airs on Friday August 11 on Lionsgate+ and Starz
