During last night’s Game Awards, Splash Damage confirmed that an online co-op game based on the Transformers universe, Transformers: Reactivate, is currently in development for PC and consoles. No specific release date and platforms have been announced, however, the multiplayer action title is being developed in collaboration with Hasbro to introduce a new era of Autobots to Earth.

Transformers: Reactivate will allow players to take the role of their favorite Autobots to battle against The Legion, who aim to transform Earth into their own planet. The Autobots, who came down to Earth after their planet was destroyed in the process of a civil war, represent humanity’s last defense against their adversaries. Players will try to save humankind by controlling Autobots from a first-person perspective, as they explore a new story within the Transformers universe. Although the developer team has not given a firm release date, a closed beta test will be held in 2023.

Players can switch between vehicle and bot form as they duke it out against The Legion. Splash Damage assured the game “will offer players a chance to immerse themselves in the Transformers universe like never before.”

Transformers: Reactivate is being developed by Splash Damage, the British team behind acclaimed games such as Batman: Arkham Origins, Gears of War, and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. The studio has acquired BULKHEAD to work in the development together with 500+ people. As seen in the trailer, the game is heavily inspired by director Michael Bay’s cinematic universe, in which action and combat are at the forefront compared to narrative elements.

“Fans have been eagerly awaiting a new game that immerses them into our iconic Transformers universe.” Vice President of Business Development at Hasbro, Eugene Evans, said in a press release.” We are confident that Transformers: Reactivate will be hugely popular with the Transformers community and continues the Hasbro Blueprint 2.0 strategy of creating first-class branded entertainment across diverse categories and platforms including video games.”

In other Game Awards news, the much-awaited Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been confirmed for March 2023 release via a brand new gameplay trailer, while the sequel to 2019’s Remnant: From the Ashes, Remnant 2, has been announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
