How to complete The Cave Monster in Octopath Traveler 2

You can begin the Cave Monster by entering the Unfinished Tunnel, an optional cave found in Southern Crackridge Wilds. To enter the cave, you’ll need to knock out the Overseer guarding its entrance using Castti’s Soothe, Hikari’s Challenger, Ochette’s Provoke, or Throné’s Ambush Path Action. After entering the cave, a cutscene will play where the Foreman warns you about a dangerous monster.

The monster in question can be found at the end of the cave. To complete The Cave Monster in Octopath Traveler 2, you’ll need to defeat Manymaws, a monster with 47,500 HP that is weak to Sword, Axe, Staff, and Fire.

If leveled appropriately, Manymaws is not an overly hard boss fight. However, Manymaws has access to Foul Odor, which is a problematic move if not prepared. Foul Odor deals no damage, but inflicts 1-5 bad status effects on all party members. To deal with it, be sure to bring along a reliable method of clearing ailments. Castti is a great choice here as her Latent Power can be used to cure ailments and the apothecary’s Rehabilitate provides immunity to all ailments for two turns.

Once Manymaws is defeated, another cutscene will play. The Foreman will thank you for defeating the monster and saving his crew. Once this cutscene ends you’ll have completed The Cave Monster in Octopath Traveler 2. The reward for finishing this side story is 5,000 Leaves and x1 Resistant Nut (L). Plus you can loot the now reachable chest for x1 Enfeebling Amulet.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available on Steam.
