It’s been a year and a half since the last James Bond movie was released. Daniel Craig bowed out so spectacularly and definitively at the conclusion of No Time To Die, but at the end of the credits it was promised that 007 would return. Of course, the reboot will be set in a different universe entirely, one where Ian Fleming’s character hasn’t died. And there’s been rumours aplenty over just who could be the seventh official Bond star.

There’s certainly a ton of buzz surrounding Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, with insiders claiming he impressed Bond producer Barbara Broccoli at a secret audition.

He’s been the favourite at Ladbrokes on 5-2 but is now drawing with Casino Royale runner-up Henry Cavill after odds on him were slashed. This isn’t too surprising considering he’s now not returning as Superman in the DC movies.

The bookies’ Alex Apati said: “The name could soon be Cavill… Henry Cavill, with the Superman star seemingly eyeing up his next big role, punters are growing convinced 007 chiefs could come calling.”

Although considering Cavill’s about to turn 40 he may well be too old to be taking on 007 compared to the 32-year-old Taylor-Johnson, so do take the odds with a pinch of salt.

Whatever the case, both have the “Bond bod” to follow Craig, with the Kick Ass star having recently posted some Calvin Klein modelling shots with abs to rival the Man of Steel himself.

Following close behind the two frontrunners are James Norton on 11-4, Regé-Jean Page on 8-1, Tom Hardy on 9-1, Jack Lowden on 10-1 and Idris Elba on 12-1.
