What’s new on Xbox this week?
With the excellent Dead Space Remake behind us, it’s time to move forward and see what’s coming to Xbox this week. What new games will release on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One? What new games will join the ever-growing Xbox Game Pass library? It’s a busy week, so be ready to wave your social life goodbye.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers are being treated to 11 new additions this week, though one stands out above the rest: Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition. The classic real-time strategy game is making its way to Xbox consoles this week as both a new release and an Xbox Game Pass day-one addition, meaning subscribers don’t need to pay a penny to get their hands on the game. It’s a fantastic little nostalgia trip, too, as noted in my review which went live earlier today.
Elsewhere we have SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, a brand new adventure for everybody’s favorite goofy cartoon character. Developed by the same team behind SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, it promises players an original adventure that speaks to fans of old-school platformers. It’s a decent enough game, too, if a little simplistic. This one hits the Xbox store on Tuesday, January 31.
If the Dead Space Remake got you itching for more space-faring sci-fi adventures, Deliver Us Mars may be worth a punt this week. The sequel to Deliver Us The Moon takes players to the Red Planet in a suspense-filled thriller that puts players in the space boots of Kathy Johanson as she tries desperately to save what little remains of the human race.
