New ‘Star Wars’ mode comes to ‘LEGO Fortnite’

LEGO Fortnite is adding a new Star Wars world where you can build a rebel village, coming May 3.

In the new Rebel Adventure, LEGO Fortnite players will be able to start a new world filled with Star Wars LEGO bricks. Unfortunately, this can’t be done in an existing world. Alongside the new brick palette players will have access to lightsabers, blasters, and thermal detonators.

The cinematic trailer shows an Imperial Star Destroyer crashing out of the sky and into the world of LEGO Fortnite. As a character investigates, the usual slapstick humour of the LEGO games ensues, as Stormtroopers attempt to assemble a snowy base.

Before checking out the crash site, players are advised to see if their Rebel pals are ok first. This is where players will turn the small village into a Rebel headquarters – it goes up to level ten.

Players will be able to use the new Macrobinoculars to locate Imperial camps around the crash site. They can be destroyed or left intact, as can the crash site. What’s more, this new world will be staying after the update has been rolled out. It’s not certain if this means it’s permanent, but it’s not going away any time soon, at least.

The Star Wars series iconic lightsabers are available for collection by helping the Rebels build their village. There’s also the bowcaster, the crossbow-like weapon favoured by everyone’s favourite wookie, Chewbacca. The furry friend will also be available as a skin that can be used in the Battle Royale mode in the premium battle pass track that costs 1,400 V-Bucks. That’s around £8 if you buy the £15.99 2,800 pack.

Earlier this year, a Fortnite player recreated the NSFW final scene from Saltburn by dancing around one of the in-game mansions to the tune of ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’.
