New Mandalorian Poster Ignites The Darksaber Once Again

We only have one month until Season 3 of Star Wars: The Mandalorian premieres on Disney+ and Disney showed off a new poster to get fans hyped up. When we last saw Din (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu, they were finally reunited in the spin-off series Book of Boba Fett after Luke Skywalker took the young Grogu to train with him at his blooming Jedi academy.

In the latest trailer, we see that this is Din’s self-redemption arc going back to Mandalore and finding his way again. With the new poster, we see that Din has the legendary Darksaber in his hand, fully ignited.

The Darksaber is an ancient, black-bladed lightsaber that glows with dark energy. Unlike other lightsabers, the Darksaber’s blade is thin and edged to look more like a traditional sword. Once possessed by the Jedi Order, the Darksaber was stolen by members of the Mandalorian warrior clans. Over the centuries, the black-lit blade was passed down through generations of the Vizsla clan, and when Tor Vizsla founded the radical Mandalorian splinter group known as the Death Watch, he chose the Darksaber as the symbol of his authority as the sect’s true leader.

It’s been seen in the animated shows Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Rebels, as well as Star Wars comics. It was brought to live action for the first time at the end of Season 1 of The Mandalorian with Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) igniting the blade.

Season 3 of The Mandalorian premieres March 1 on Disney+.
