The Man of Steel is returning to small screens later this year, as Adult Swim has announced that it will broadcast the new animated series My Adventures With Superman.
Originally scheduled to launch on Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max streaming service and Cartoon Network, My Adventures With Superman follows 20-something versions of Clark Kent (voiced by Jack Quaid), Lois Lane (Alice Lee), and Jimmy Olsen as they juggle their social lives with their jobs at the Daily Planet. And Kent’s other job as the protector of Metropolis.
On the production side, the series will be executive produced by DC veteran Sam Register, Josie Campbell (She-Ra and the Princess of Power), Jake Wyatt (Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus), and Brendan Clogher (Voltron: Legendary Defender). The show will arrive later in 2023 during “Adult Swim’s late-night primetime hours” and will have reruns on the Toonami block. Dark Knight fans aren’t being left out either, it was confirmed earlier this year that Batman: The Caped Crusader will debut on Prime Video.
The landscape of the DC Universe has undergone some massive changes over the last couple of months. With the current Snyderverse era of the film franchise winding down, the future of that comic book universe is now being led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, who recently revealed their 10-year plan to build the next big cinematic universe. The first 10 DC Studios projects–five movies and five HBO Max TV series–are all set in the same universe and fall under the Gods and Monsters umbrella.
These projects include a new Superman movie directed by Gunn, an Amanda Waller TV series, and a live-action feature film adaptation of The Authority. Before these films arrive, you can look forward to some multiversal action with Flashpoint in June and Aquaman 2 later in 2023.
