On July 3, 2022, day three of Anime Expo, Crunchyroll and Kadokawa revealed the first trailer for Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation season 2, confirming which arcs the anime will adapt next. Note that the trailer’s release time was announced a day before via the Japanese Mushoku Tensei Twitter account. That announcement tweet alone reached over 16,000 likes, showing once again how popular Mushoku Tensei is.
Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Trailer Confirms Quagmire Arc, Magic School Arc
The new Mushoku Tensei season 2 trailer primarily focuses on Rudeus and his adventures after the events of Season 1’s final and time skip.
In the original novels, the events following season 1 focus on Rudeus’ new party in a snowy region, and how he gets the nickname “The Quagmire”. That arc, also called the Mid-Level Adventurer Arc, was pretty much skipped in the Mushoku Tensei manga version, which moved on directly to the Magic School arc, also called the University arc.
The season 2 trailer, however, has a focus on both the Quagmire arc and the Magic School arc, confirming it’ll adapt both. Moreover, the trailer teases the reappearance of Sylphie, who was missing since the Teleportation Incident seen in season 1. The trailer also introduces the main characters Rudeus will be interacting with at the academy. Some of them are characters we’ve actually seen before in the series too. Check out the trailer below.
Mushoku Tensei Season 2 will start airing sometime in 2023. It has no specific release season announced yet. Just like with the first season, Crunchyroll will simulcast the anime in the US.
The original Mushoku Tensei novel written by Rifujin na Magonote is already over in Japan. In the US, the series has been translated up to volume 16. The manga adaptation is still ongoing, and has adapted pretty much all of the Magic School arc by now. So you should definitely give the novel or manga a try if you can’t wait for season 2 to see what happens next.
