Infinity Ward has released a deep dive blog dedicated to new changes and features coming to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 with the second season, which is set to go live on February 15. It provides a breakdown of what to expect from Season 2, including the return of 1v1 gulags, UI updates, and changes to movement, looting, loadouts, and weapons.
Alongside significant changes to the multiplayer and looting system, Season 2 will improve the overall flow of in-game menus with a UI update that includes a more polished social tab, the new ‘my bundles’ screen, and improved clarity of attachment blocking logic in gunsmith. The list of UI changes heading to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 also features improved navigation and organization of the camo menu, reticle previews in the store and gunsmith, and the ability to quickly equip items from battle pass, player bundles, and store. The renewed social tab also contains improved channel swapping and player muting.
The most notable inclusion of the host of UI changes is the ‘play again’ button, which was removed due to a previous issue. Players have been complaining about the absence of the play again button for quite some time. However, this is going to be changing, as Infinity Ward confirmed that the much-awaited feature would be returning to Warzone 2 with the launch of Season 2. It allows players to queue into another match without having to return to the menu.
The deep dive blog also touches on other changes coming to both games, including the new 1v1 gulag, an improved after-action report, weapon balancing, and redistribution of cash. The lowest value of cash piles will be increased from ground loot to $800, and cash can no longer be found in basic and legendary supply boxes.
Lastly, the core part of Warzone 2’s Battle Royale, loadouts, will receive significant changes in Season 2. Customizable perk packages will be introduced with the new season, ensuring players that all available perks provide ample utility and remain viable options. Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 will launch on February 15.
