Two different ways to play the game and a hands-free mode will also be included.

Kingdom Heats: Missing Link – the upcoming Kingdom Hearts mobile RPG – has revealed new details about some gameplay elements and character customization details (translations via Siliconera). These details come courtesy of Square Enix, as well as several lucky players who were able to join to closed beta test this month.

Players will be able to create their own avatar for the first time in a Kingdom Hearts mobile entry, and the colors of each costume part can be freely adjusted. Missing Link is also the first to implement 3D graphics – as opposed to the 2D sprites in previous mobile games – so players can expect great attention to detail in the designs of each piece of clothing, and a variety of styles and garments to choose from, including coats, top hats, hiking boots, gloves, as well as multiple accessories.

As for gameplay information, it appears that there will be two different ways players can enjoy the title, either through the “GPS” mode or the “Gamepad” mode. The GPS mode tracks the player’s movement as they walk and moves the character accordingly, but the player can also control the character’s movement without the need for any physical input. Furthermore, combat will include a “hands-free” approach that is believed to make combat more automated and easier, and this approach can also work while in GPS mode.

In addition, the game will feature a stamina system where players have to spend points to engage in battles, and these points can be obtained automatically via the GPS mode, and then used in the Gamepad mode to engage in battles and obtain treasures, kind of acting as an incentive to take walks, with the reward being more in-game battles.

Twitter user Aitaikimochi noted that location and weather will change the type of enemy heartless you meet, and switching the Keyblade weapons will affect the player’s play style.

Jewels (the currency used to unlock special quests) are confirmed to make a return in Missing Link. This is the so-called gacha element in the android game, and is the hardest type of currency to get unless players spend real money, but these Jewels do make difficult quests easier and can net players some powerful Keyblades, too. Users haven’t reported anything about any new story elements, as story missions will only be available on the final version of the game, not the beta test.
