Marvel’s Midnight Suns is packed with superhero abilities, explosive action, and some fantastic, turn-based gameplay. Not only does the game feature some of the best and most popular superheroes out there, but it also boasts a unique story set in the Marvel Universe. Although the roster is packed with some of the most iconic characters around, prowling among the land of the living is the half-human, half-vampire known only as Blade. Acting as a proper half-vampire should, in Midnight Suns Blade is a damage dealer that relies on bleeding his enemies dry and lifestealing their HP to restore his health.

His card deck suggests a risk-vs-reward style of gameplay that works best when Blade has enough time to ramp up his Bleed effect on multiple enemies. Balancing the nuance between going full vampire badass and being reserved enough to keep Blade alive in a fight is no easy challenge, however. So to ease things up, here is a quick guide on the best Blade deck build in Midnight Suns and how to use it.

How It Works

Blade’s abilities are ideally implemented when using his survivability and letting Bleed stack on multiple enemies for multiple rounds. His play-style is really about biding time for healing and damage. Bleed is a great effect that ticks damage on enemies after the initial attack and lasts for several rounds before wearing off. Triggering Blade’s lifesteal with cards like Stake will keep him in the fight — especially if the strike team doesn’t have a healer. However, to be at his most effective, Blade needs to build up multiple stacks of Bleed and survive for a good amount of time to get the most benefit.

Start a match off by building up Bleed effects, which is why having two cards of Make ’em Bleed is crucial to any Blade deck. If possible, use Make ’em Bleed to enhance cards like Strike, Glaive, and Daywalker before playing them. This will add even more Bleed to the battlefield while giving Blade a chance to soak up that damage as healing, HP for himself. Surprisingly, Blade can also become an assassin with one card: Reaper is Blade’s biggest impact card, though it’s not his Legendary one. The reason for this is that Reaper will cash-in every stack of Bleed to deal all that damage at once. This makes Blade much more versatile because he can transition from Bleeding a whole wave of enemies to focusing on a high-threat enemy like one of the Fallen.

Best Team Builds For Blade

Blade is one of the best damage-dealers in the game and excels at fighting large groups of enemies over solo ones. He is at his best on the battlefield when able to survive many rounds, apply his Bleed, lifesteal, and tick damage on several enemies at once. Since Blade is a full damage class hero, he will always benefit from the classic support and tank teammates in his strike team. Any tanky character goes great with Blade because they can work to taunt and distract enemies to let Blade deal out the slow-ticking damage. That means Captain America, Wolverine, Hulk, and Captain Marvel are always welcome teammates with Blade. He also works best with healers that can keep Blade in the match longer — so characters like Hunter and Nico will allow Blade to do his best without worrying about dying too early.

Other characters, like Captain Marvel, work in hybrid roles where damage and tankiness can work mutually, but Blade doesn’t work in the same way. In fact, his main setback is also his biggest strength: it takes time for his damage to ramp up and become effective. In other words, the biggest challenge for Blade is surviving late enough to apply his Bleed to tons of enemies and let the damage happen slowly. Due to his squishy nature of having low HP and Resilience, it’s not always easy to keep Blade alive. One thing to consider when bringing Blade into a fight is certain combat Items geared specifically to help his survival. So items like Greater Healing Salve, Blessed Blade, and Creed Repellent are good options to bring along.
