Malcolm In The Middle Reunion Movie: Bryan Cranston Confirms There Was “Some Talk”

Prior to his dark turn on Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston famously played Hal on the Fox sitcom Malcolm in the Middle in the early 2000s. With so many other aging shows getting rebooted or revived, fans are naturally wondering if Malcolm in the Middle could be next. We still don’t know, but Cranston has now confirmed that there was “some talk” of a reunion movie.

“There was some talk about the possibility of doing like a reunion movie of Malcolm in the Middle,” Cranston told E! News. “We had such a great family on that and I certainly would be open to that if there was a good idea that came up like, ‘Oh, that would be fantastic to explore what happened to this family 20 years later.’ I can’t believe it’s already that, but that would be fun to do.”

Frankie Muniz plays Malcolm on the show, which ran for seven seasons and 151 episodes from 2000 to 2006. After Malcolm in the Middle wrapped, Cranston said he had an offer to play another bumbling father in a different show, but he got a cold call out of the blue from Vince Gilligan pitching him on the idea for Walter White and Breaking Bad. Gilligan knew of Cranston from an episode of X-Files that Gilligan wrote and Cranston appeared in. The rest is history.

Muniz said he is “100%” interested in returning for a Malcolm in the Middle reboot. In a previous interview, Muniz said a potential reunion could show what the family is up to now.

Whether or not a Malcolm in the Middle reunion movie is actually happening or is just an idea remains to be seen. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.

Cranston currently stars on the Showtime series Your Honor, which just returned for its second season.
