July has always been an exciting month.  The beginning of summer parties at the local pool and the reveal of Madden NFL Player Ratings. With the official reveal of Madden NFL 23 player ratings being released on ESPN starting today, it’s a good time to predict how those ratings are going to shake out.

There have been some leaks, like Trent Williams joining the 99 OVR club via Twitter

Also, it looks like Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Donald, TJ Watt, and Cooper Kupp have joined Trent Williams in the 99 Club as well via @MaddenLeaks.

Madden NFL 23 player ratings are always highly debated.  It’s not an exact science – for example, some individual attributes are lowered to keep the overall rating down and vice versa.  We’ll save all of that for another article.  In this article, we’re going to focus on the Top 10 QBs in the game and give our predictions for their overall rating in Madden NFL 23.

1
Aaron Rodgers (GB) – 99 OVR

Rodgers ended the season with a 97 OVR in Madden NFL 22 and coming off another MVP season it’s no wonder he has joined the 99 club. The Packers’ Improvisor (Madden Trait) is the best QB in the game.  With his quick release and throwing power, he’s always a fan favorite.

Tom Brady (TB) – 95 OVR

The GOAT ended last season with a 97 OVR and he’ll likely go down two rating points to start the season. He is getting up there in age so there could be a hit as EA may think it’s time for him to regress.  The Bucs’ Improvisor will still be one of the most used QBs in Madden NFL 23 because of his Hot Route ability.

Patrick Mahomes (KC) – 96 OVR

Mahomes may have lost his best WR in Tyrek Hill, but he remains one of the best young QBs in the game. His subpar performance last year may have cost him a higher rating but being a 97 OVR in your fourth year as a pro is not too shabby. His Bazooka X-factor and escape artist make him super dangerous and hard to stop when he gets out of the pocket.

4
Joe Burrow (CIN) – 91 OVR

Coming off an SB appearance in only his second year as a pro is impressive. Burrow ended the season as an 86 OVR, but his performance means that he has to move up. You’ll also likely see Burrow get a Superstar trait as he didn’t have one to end the season.

Josh Allen (BUF) – 91 OVR

Allen had a great season last year and this year he will be expected to be even better as he ended the season as an 86OVR. This Improvisor QB is equipped with Gunslinger and Escape Artist and will run over smaller DBs on his way to the endzone.

6
Lamar Jackson (BAL) – 89 OVR

Jackson will be the fastest QB in the game, but his performance last year will hurt his Madden Ratings to start the season. Last year, Jackson started with a 91 OVR rating but dropped down despite being one of the most electrifying players in the game.

7
Russell Wilson (DEN) – 92 OVR

Wilson started off at a 94 OVR last year and ended up an 89. What a fall by the former Champion who looks to rebound with a new team and new targets. EA will probably start him off at a 92 just because of his past accomplishments, but he could come down quickly if he doesn’t play well to start the season.

8
Deshaun Watson (CLE) – 90 OVR

Watson missed a whole season and ended up as an 84 to end the Madden 22 season.  With that said, he started out as a 90 OVR last year. Since he didn’t touch the field, he probably isn’t going anywhere.

9
Justin Herbert (SD) – 87 OVR

Herbert is one of the best young QBs in the game, but his rating is not going to be up there with Burrow and Allen just yet.  He is not far behind but those other QBs have had playoffs games and I think that’s what separates them.

10
Dak Prescott (DAL) – 90 OVR

Prescott ended up as a 91 to end the season and he will be right there, but just a tad lower.  He is hard to bring down and has a Gutsy Scrambler trait for America’s Team.  Look for Dak to bounce back and start the season off strong and get that rating up.

Those are our predictions for the top QBs in Madden NFL 23.

ESPN & EA SPORTS will be revealing the player ratings all next week, so stay tuned.

Here is the schedule:

7/20 – Running Backs
