Love Island’s Summer series kicked off with a bang as producers sent in a bombshell hours after the stars set foot into the villa.

However, the series was faced with backlash as many viewers noted how the new Islanders resembled past stars.

Express.co.uk recently spoke to Celebrity Skin Talk host Scott McGlynn, who also felt the show needed a break after producing “clones”.

He exclusively explained: “I always do believe that a show needs a break because for this show, they do two a year, in the winter and the summer, but I always think it is good for a time out and have a break.

“They need that time out to get that hype back a bit and I think most shows need that. But from the winter to the summer it’s like, ‘Oh ok here we go again’, and it’s run its course.

“They keep producing clones of previous Islanders and I think a break would help with that, get more authentic people in.”

Fans of the show immediately took to their Twitter accounts to compare this year’s Islanders to former stars, with Mitchel Taylor being the first on their list.

@MyLibrasss commented: “Mitchel is the new Luca [Bish], why r u possessive of a girl years younger than u that u met literally 3 days ago, im tired #LoveIsland.”

@asblake_ added: “Mitchel is a Luca 2.0 lmao #LoveIsland,” as @merreaa said: “Looking at Mitchel he literally looks like Luca #loveisland.” (sic)

Catherine Agbaje was next to be compared to Yewande Biala as @amandoraa penned: “Catherine giving me Yewande vibes, they even kinda look alike! love it! #Loveisland.”

@courtneyrx_ agreed: “Catherine reminds me of Yewande #Loveisland.” (sic)

Whilst Tyrique Hyde was compared to Toby Aromolaran and Molly Marsh was compared to Molly-Mae Hague.

After Ruchee was dumped from the villa last night, she revealed she wasn’t surprised her fellow islanders didn’t save her.

She explained: “I wasn’t really surprised, I had a feeling that Ella would be saved by the Islanders. Her and Tyrique have been doing so well.

“Obviously the public put them together and I feel like they’re a good match. We’ve seen Tyrique and Ella both blossom and get really comfortable with each other, just because a bombshell has come in I don’t think they’re ‘done’.”

Love Island airs weeknights and Sunday evenings from 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
