[Let’s Talk] Pokemon Legends: Z-A hopes and dreams

Pokemon Legends is now officially a series of its own with this week’s announcement of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. There won’t be a big new Pokemon game this year, but we know that this new one will be arriving in 2025.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which launched at the very beginning of 2022, was a new take on the RPG formula we’ve grown accustomed to over the past few decades. There was more of an action element and it was even possible to catch different creatures simply by throwing a Poke Ball as soon as you saw it, which didn’t require you to enter the battle screen. A number of different features and changes were introduced, which seemed to be well received overall.

That brings us to Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Outside of a few things, not much is known. It’s confirmed to take place in Lumiose City and Mega Evolutions are making a return. Otherwise we’re pretty much left to dream.

What are you hoping to see in Pokemon Legends: Z-A? Are there are specific features you’d like to see be brought back from Arceus or changed? Let us know in the comments.

Went in with mid-to-low expectations, so I was pretty happy to see some of the games announced.
Grounded was surprising and Penny’s Big Breakaway being dropped on the day and Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist was nice.
More Rareware is always a good thing, though I was hoping for Banjo Tooie, Perfect Dark, Conker and Diddy Kong Racing.

But the best of direct was the OG Star Wars Battlefront collection and Endless Ocean Luminous announcements.

It’s quite simple. The Switch is on its final period as the main console. It simple won’t have the same level of announcements and releases as 2 or 3 years ago. Still, were getting new games + remasters and remakes. Said remasters and remakes ware from games stuck on dead hardware and otherwise unplayable on current hardware.
With that in mind, it was a good Direct and it will be a good year for the Switch. It still might be great. Just like every other year for the Switch, we don’t yet know all that Nintendo have in store for us.
