Last Epoch, the Action-RPG developed by Eleventh Hour Games, after releasing its major 1.0 Patch, achieves the milestone of 190,000 concurrent players on Steam, and is poised to become the third best-selling game of 2024.

Last Epoch Reaches 190k Concurrent Players

Going from Early Access to full release on February 21st, Last Epoch appears to be a certified success, as seen in our Gameplay Overview article, after three years of development. Surpassing 190k simultaneous players on Steam yesterday, there are many reasons to expect it to increase even further.

Last Epoch has dominated the Steam best-sellers list, surpassing Elden Ring, even after it showcased its new trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree earlier this week. In fact, Last Epoch is only behind in the best-sellers list compared to a Steam old-timer, Counter-Strike and the current sensation Helldivers 2.

However, Steam reviews are mixed because, like any launch due to high player traffic, there are struggles with server logins and players are having issues staying connected. Eleventh Hour Games, however, has been constantly posting updates on what they are working on through all available public channels. And despite server issues, the Steam numbers just keep on growing, and there are still enough people playing to keep it among the top 10 most played Steam games this week, even surpassing Baldur’s Gate 3.

Diablo IV and POE Contender

While it lags behind in sales compared to successful 2024 games like Palworld and Helldivers 2, ARPG fans seem committed and argue that this game could be direct competition with Diablo 4 and Path of Exile due to its extensive item crafting system and satisfying variety of builds, making it widely popular with fans of the genre.

This does not rule out that in the coming weeks, these numbers could grow exponentially as developers continue to strive to further polish the servers and game entry, even though the game has an offline gameplay system, to reach the player peaks that other games have achieved this year.

While Diablo 4 players hope that Blizzard resolves some of its long-standing issues next season, they have undoubtedly found a surprising and very good alternative that already has years of community-driven development and seems quite attractive.
