Kingdom Hearts 2: 10 Hardest Bosses, Ranked

0

Kingdom Hearts 2 has a load of complicated bosses that will make players question how much torment they want to put themselves through. The game is interesting as it does a good job at continuously trying to challenge the player along their journey. Just when the player starts feeling good about Sora’s abilities and Keyblade they’ll then get thrown a boss that completely destroys them.

This is exemplified by the Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix version of the game which works as additional content for the base game of Kingdom Hearts 2. The Final Mix version includes some revamped bosses and new ones that will completely destroy an untrained Kingdom Hearts player’s will to fight.

10 Xigbar

Xigbar can be one of the hardest bosses encountered in the main missions of the game. Some bosses are aggressive and walk toward the player which allows players to try and find openings in between their attacks. Xigbar is very different from other bosses as his fighting style is aggressive in terms of how he will be constantly shooting at the player, but rather than walk near the player he keeps his distance.

Players will feel like they are constantly trying to hunt down Xigbar as he’ll teleport around the stage and walk backward in the air all while shooting what feels like hundreds if not thousands of bullets at Sora.

9 Yuffie, Cloud, Tifa, and Leon

Even with the Ultima Weapon Keyblade equipped this is still by far one of the most difficult fights in the game. At least when the fight first starts as the player can get easily overwhelmed. Each of the characters isn’t necessarily difficult on their own but together when they gang up on Sora. He doesn’t have Goofy or Donald around and because of this, it can feel like one of the most unfair fights imaginable.

The good thing about the fight is that when the player is able to single the characters out and make it less chaotic the fight becomes a lot simpler.

8 Data Saix

Data Saix is one of the fights in the game that can get extremely tense quickly as when this boss’s gauge fills up completely the boss will enter into a berserk mode. This mode makes it so that the boss will attack the player quickly with a ground pound attack that deals massive damage. The mode also makes the boss invincible for a short amount of time.

As one of the data bosses, Saix has a lot of health to go along with his sometimes difficult-to-dodge attacks. The one thing is that his combos aren’t as heavy as other bosses in the game and Sora can get out of getting juggled by him fairly easily so long as they use glide effectively.

7 Demyx

The Demyx fight is one of the most difficult that the base game of Kingdom Hearts 2 has as players will have to not only fight an extremely difficult boss but also handle his equally challenging mini-game. Demyx will start a timer and make it so that players have to kill a certain amount of his water creatures. If the creatures aren’t destroyed within the time limit the player will lose.

This makes it so that the player needs to learn how to balance the time mini-game while also trying not to die to a boss that can very easily kill the player with his different water-based moves.

6 Data Marluxia

Data Marluxia can be difficult unless the player is level 99 as the boss’s special trick is that the player’s health is replaced by a number that is equivalent to Sora’s level. The player can only get hit as many times as their level is and if they get hit more they will die and have to try again. This makes the fight tough to get through as Marluxia will do a barrage of attacks with each combo.

Marluxia’s attacks only get longer and more difficult to dodge as the battle progresses and more of his health is taken out. It’s a fun unique fight that serves as a great challenge in the game.

5 Data Larxene

Data Larxene is hard as a lot of the time it will feel like the player is fighting two bosses at once. This is because she will summon a clone of herself that will attack Sora alongside her. The good thing is that the main Larxene and the clone version of herself share a health bar, so players will not have to worry about which one they lock on and do damage to.

As the fight progresses her attack frequency increases, and she gets some additional electricity magic attacks. The good thing is that a special command can be used to send Larxene’s clone back into her if it’s becoming too much of a nuisance. If players practice their timing, though challenging, Larxene can be quickly learned.

4 Data Roxas

The Data Roxas fight is much like the one that’s included in the main story of Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix except the fight gets exceptionally quicker as it progresses. Roxas will do a lot more of his Nobody laser-based combos which will have players needing to time dodges through them or away from them perfectly if they don’t want to get trapped in a multiple-hit combo.

A third of the way into the fight he’ll throw out even more lasers and do an attack where he quickly throws magical orbs at Sora that need to be dodged away from. It’s a test of reflexes from start to finish.

3 Sephiroth

If the player is at a high enough level and makes sure that they are well-equipped for the situation then a lot of Sephiroth’s attacks won’t do too much damage to the player. Sephiroth will still be able to get Sora to low health quickly as his slashes are quick. His attack range is also massive, and he has a lot of giant area of effect magic. This is a boss that players are very unlikely to beat on the first try.

As the fight progresses his different phases continue to add attacks that catch Sora in longer combos or deal more damage. Some of his magical attacks also become more difficult to dodge.

2 Data Xemnas

Data Xemnas is like the Xemnas that the player fights at the end of the game except he is a lot faster and does a lot more damage to the player. He will do a lot of spinning attacks in his first phase that will be able to lock the player in a flurry of blows and get them fairly low.

In his second phase, he does magic attacks that will do huge damage such as shooting lasers at the player from his hands or circling lasers around them that will shoot at Sora. His health is also completely maxed out, so the player needs to be on top of their game so that they can kill the boss.

1 Lingering Will

The Lingering Will boss fight is by far the most difficult fight in the entirety of Kingdom Hearts 2 as it offers the player the biggest challenge. The boss is Terra from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep’s Keyblade armor with a lot of very dangerous attacks. The boss will get on a Keyblade motorcycle and attack the player dealing heavy damage from the get-go.

The Lingering Will also has powerful and heavy attacks that he will use against the opponent. Some involve the boss quickly flinging towards the opponent while another involves a barrage of Keyblade attacks. He also does spells, especially near the end of the fight, that is hard to dodge and do large amounts of damage.
