Kerbal Space Program 2 is delayed into 2023

Publisher Private Division and developers Squad and Intercept Games announced Kerbal Space Program 2 is delayed into 2023, with its PC launch first and consoles to follow later.

Creative Director Nate Simpson announced Kerbal Space Program 2 would be delayed into early 2023 for PC (via Steam). Then the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S will see their launches sometime afterwards.

This isn’t the first time the game has been delayed. Kerbal Space Program 2 was originally planned to be released in 2021, until the developers announced at the end of 2020 that it would be pushed back to 2022.

Before that the game had been delayed to 2021 from it’s original release window of 2020. This first delay was blamed on the coronavirus pandemic, which caused complications and led to many working from home.

Along with the pandemic, there has been other reports on the game’s troubled development cycle. It had been reported that Take-Two Interactive poached staff and Kerbal Space Program 2 from original developer Star Theory.

Star Theory shuttered their doors back in March of 2020. This meant new developer Intercept Games would take over the contract for the title with many of the members of Star Theory working with them now.

When the game does launch, it will be available for the aforementioned platforms. If one would like to try something to tide them over until the new delayed launch – you can play the first Kerbal Space Program and its enhanced editions on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
