Jeremy Vine recently opened up on how he would feel about the end of his career with the BBC and “accepts” his professional demise.

The Channel 5 presenter joined Loose Women star Kaye Adams and co-host Karen MacKenzie on their How to be 60 podcast recently to discuss his long-running career.

However, Jeremy admitted to feeling “uncomfortable” talking about his professional demise but knows he has to “accept” it’ll happen one day.

As well as his Channel 5 show, Jeremy hosts BBC Radio 2’s daily lunchtime programme and explained: “We have to accept that because what you cannot do is say ‘how unfair’ – the unfairness is we’ve done it for so long.

“So, I think I’ll be cool with it actually, I think I will. I’m the oldest one now, I was the youngest one for ages, but I don’t really go for public panic.

“I’m so uncomfortable talking about my own professional demise. I can’t quite factor it in, and I do think that we all have to be aware that it’s coming for all of us.”

After the podcast episode aired, Jeremy took to his Twitter account to promote it and said: “Terrified (but delighted) to listen to latest @kayeadams podcast #HowToBe60.

“With me … age, ahem, 58 … and Kaye’s hilarious mate Karen.” (sic)

Fans of Jeremy and the podcast replied to his tweet to show their support for the episode, as Deck replied: “A good listen. Really enjoyed it.”

Julie added: “Listened to this…. Seeing Karen’s face being so serious is even better.”

@SannahMiss commented: “Love this Jeremy! Nice to see a casual side to you and let loose a little bit.”

Kenneth Noble said: “Well done sir! A great listen and Kaye and Karen were the perfect hosts.” (sic)

BBC Radio 2 has lost one million viewers and faced a brutal blow after Ken Bruce’s exit back in March.

The latest figures come from the radio industry body Rajar and reflect that Radio 2 had a difficult quarter after losing more than a million listeners between April and June.

Zoe Ball lost 533,000 listeners compared to the previous quarter bringing her audience down to 6.7 million.

But despite the loss in viewers, she still now has the most popular breakfast show in the UK, taking Ken’s top spot.

How to be 60 with Kaye Adams is available to listen to on Apple Podcasts.
